YARNS

They contain a hidden and beautiful sculptural spirit: sometimes, we use more than four different hand-spun silks for knotting one single carpet. We use different silks, including up-cycled and wild silk, as well as wool, hemp and linen. We have also created rare blends of yarns with unique sheen and tones. For example, we blended handspun silk with linen and wool to reduce the sheen of the silk, and ended up developing a whole new texture, our favourite today.

IN SEARCH OF FORGOTTEN COLOURS

The spices, roots and vegetables we use for dyeing are locally sourced in Rajasthan. As well as being sustainable and steeped in history, we are loyal to vegetable dyes for the wonderful colours they produce.

THE WASHING

A process with many purposes. Washing controls the tones and overdye, it also balances the sheen. Each carpet has its own personality. We embrace the individuality of natural fibres as they react to water.

THE SUN

Yarns and colours created by sun rays. The Rajasthan sun is powerful and intense; temperatures soar from very high to low. The climate shapes our carpets.
